Just dropped off a bunch of meetup kits to be mailed. The USPS lady and I are best friends now.

Tumblr Tuesday

staff:

The introduction to this week’s Tumblr Tuesday will be back shortly. We’re making some changes to the infrastructure of this introduction, and it may be unavailable for a few minutes. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience. Please check back soon.

The Footnotes of Mad Men
Apparently there’s this television show that at least a few hundred people watch every week about these men who are very mad. I’m still not sure what they’re so mad about. It takes place in 1960s and is set in New York City, which seems pretty nice to me. I mean, they’re not living in the Dark Ages, are they? I just can’t get behind needless anger. At least, that was until I found The Footnotes of Mad Men. Now I’m more in touch with my anger. It’s really healthy. Here: I need a fucking television! Ahh, I feel better already.

What no one told you about Pakistan
Way back before the internet became whatever it is today, I thought it could usher in a new level of understanding between disparate cultures from around the globe. I thought, “hey, we’ll be able to just talk to each other, and we’ll find out that no matter our differences, we’re all just human beings.” This turned out to be one of the most naive thoughts I ever had, but Tumblr blogs like What no one told you about Pakistan are doing their best to redeem me. Good luck, peeps!

Carnivorous Plants!
The exclamation mark in the title is what pushed this over the top for me. Granted, plants that freaking eat things are badass enough in their own right, but this is Tumblr Tuesday. We have high standards here. A plant that can and will eat you slowly (needs verification) is indeed so cool of a concept that I can barely keep from passing out, but I can’t shake that beautifully-used exclamation mark. These things are bloody awesome and this Tumblr user knows it.

Fuck Yeah Gadgets
Gadget porn, without those pesky articles that just get in the way. There’s something ingenious about the presentation here: Photos, stark background, almost no text. I find myself looking at these gadgets as pieces of art, unconcerned with how many gigabytes this has or how much that will cost. No, what FYG is about is simply taking a step back and appreciating excellent industrial design.

It’s Full of Stars
Space is freaking awesome. Your argument is invalid. More to the point: This Tumblr blog chronicles our species’ fascination with the universe at large. From the science of space exploration to artistic expressions of what we can only imagine, It’s Full of Stars covers it all. Also, space shark. Discussion over.

And you? What are some other Tumblr blogs that you are loving these days?
